DR. COHEN'S WORK IN FORENSICS With the publication of Dr. Cohen's books, and medical journal and consumer articles, Dr. Cohen has frequently been asked to provide his expert opinion on litigation involving harm due to medications or to questionable medical care. Dr. Cohen's areas of forensic expertise include:
Forensic analysis requires very similar skills as Dr. Cohen employs for his research and writing. These skills include thorough literature reviews, comparative analyses of methods, in-depth scrutiny of the events of the incident, and excellent writing skills. Dr. Cohen covers every facet of each case, and his opinions are strong, evidence-based, comprehensive and compelling. Attorneys have commented on the quality and substance of Dr. Cohen's opinions. Dr. Cohen has testified in depositions and in court. Dr. Cohen usually works with plaintiffs' attorneys, however he has helped defend doctors whose actions were medically appropriate. Dr. Cohen is an Adjunct (voluntary) Associate Professor of Family and Preventive Medicine, and of Psychiatry, at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Cohen is a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine. He practiced general medicine and psychopharmacology until 1990, when he decided to devote his time to researching the underlying causes of the extremely high incidence of adverse reactions, hospitalizations and deaths, from prescription drugs.
